A SUNDAY STROLL ALONG THE ESTUARY

I'm a bit slack, I know. But I did take a camera the other day...

Pahurehure (pronounced pa hoory hoory) Inlet is an easy walk from here. Our suburb is made up of small streets, closes, places, groves and most have wide green spaces between the streets. This link might interest some of you.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conifer_Grove#Facilities

And here are some of my photos. Did I manage to get a pic of a tui? Of course not! But we heard them, high in the trees.

The jetty

Mangroves

Pohutukawa tree;there were two tui up there.

Not sure whether planted or fly-tipped,but birds love them.

A back lane, behind our house.

I'd never seen such a dark blue hydrangea! we have some pinks and I've bought some Aluminium sulfate ...

Trachelospermum jasminoides

Magnolia (M.grandiflora, I think)

  1. Well, don't you live in a lovely green neighbourhood! That pohutukawa tree is quite something, and I love the possibly-fly-tipped area.

But, Sporran - oh, no! I'm sorry, Dinah. It's turning into quite the season, what with Peenee's Octavia, Maddie's Buster, and now your poor Sporran. Big hugs x

  3. So sorry to read about Sporran.
I did have a very blue Hydrangea when I lived in Leigh-on-Sea, but I haven't seen many since - I will keep an eye out.
Your new home looks lush and green!

The flora looks nice and peaceful, I hope the fauna is too.

  6. Lovely surroundings. My mother loved Hydrangeas and had a kind of easy familiarity with the ones she grew and addressed them as "Hydrange my pet". I'm sure it affected their growth as they were enormous.

  7. Welcome aboard, WWW. The hydrangeas of my childhood were all blue, but the soil around this place is clearly pink-favoured!
